I am having a rough time with writing this reflection paper. Please look over what I have done on my first Classroom observation paper, please give me suggestion on how to make it a better reflection wording wise, grammar, etc.

Classroom Observation #1

 

As a student majoring in Elementary Education I have learned different tenancies to teach

 

children. On Friday, September 9th I observed a first-grade class at Meadow Point Elementary

 

School. Ms. Kristin Tretten allowed me to observe the core and guided reading section of her

 

class from 9:30 am-11:00 am. Ms. Tretten had a female teacher assistance (TA). Her TA helped

 

the students in her class that had disabilities. One student had autism, and another had down

 

syndrome. There are a total of twenty students registered in Ms. Tretten class; however, there

 

were only sixteen students in attendance that day, twelve girls and five boys. Even though I have

 

five years of experience in teaching, I was looking forward to seeing how another teacher

 

impacts their students? lives.

 

Before I go into detail about this session I observed in this classroom, I thought it is

 

important to review the Colorado Department of Education reading, writing standards. The first

 

grade standards are:

 

1) Comprehending and Fluency reading a variety of literary texts are the beginning traits

 

of readers.

 

2) Decoding words require the application of alphabetic principles, letter sound, and

 

letter combination.

 

3) Understanding word structure, word relationships and word families that need to be

 

demonstrated to begin to read.

 

When I first arrived the classroom I noticed how well put together she had her classroom.

 

There were a total of twenty desks for the students to sit and they were split into four separate

 

groups. Each group of desks have and assigned animal to be identified by. Those animals were a

 

raddle snake, grizzle bear, black widow spider, and a lizard. There were bookshelves, a white [SHORTENED TITLE UP TO 50 CHARACTERS] 3

 

board. Over by the reading carpet there was a calendar, multiplication table, and bullion boards

 

so that the students can display their work for parents and others to see. During this section of this first-grade class that they do on daily bases and during this

 

section the students had four rotations each lasted about 15-20 minutes. During these four

 

rotations they worked on (1) interactive activities on the computers, (2) partner reading, (3)

 

Reading worksheets, and (4) Vocabulary with the teacher. First when the students were working

 

on the interactive activities on the computers, they had to answer comprehension questions at the

 

end of each activity. The second rotation the students had to sit down on the reading carpet and

 

read books to another student or a stuffed animal. Then, in the third rotation the students had to

 

sit quietly at their desks and work on a worksheet. This worksheet that the students were working

 

on was called ?vowel sounds?. They had a list of words and they had to sound out the words

 

listed and put them under the correct vowel sound. Last, the students worked one-on-one with
